Best Wellness Resorts

Amangiri, USA – Resort Girijaala Suite

A hotel must offer more than just a nice spa and a fully equipped gym to be considered a top wellness destination. To wow Andrew Harper members, it must have a roster of fitness and mindfulness activities, excellent food and a spectacular natural setting.

Fire pit, Canyon Ranch Tuscon, Arizona

This year’s standout winner was Canyon Ranch Tucson, a luxurious health-and-fitness resort and spa set in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The 175 rooms are housed within one-story Southwestern structures and feature contemporary artwork and state-of-the-art baths. But what keeps devoted guests returning year after year is not just the plush accommodations. The expansive health club encompasses a comprehensive spa, several gyms, dance and yoga studios, and racquetball and squash courts. The daily activities menu details aquatic and aerobic exercise classes, weight-training sessions and wellness programs. “After going to the ranch for more than 30 years, it still doesn’t disappoint,” one regular visitor said. Another called it “the most comprehensive facility anywhere — and it’s in the desert!” Sessions with an on-staff nutritionist and wellness guide can be arranged. “Best expertise by far,” one member succinctly noted. Hiking, tennis, rock climbing and golf are also available, giving guests a chance to explore the breathtaking scenery.

According to the results of our survey, few destination spas live up to the popularity of Canyon Ranch. But several other notable properties earned accolades from members.
