Nowadays, central Puerto Vallarta has an impressive concentration of art galleries. Some of them, especially those in the Zona Romántica, display mostly decorative pieces. But others, chiefly in the Centro neighborhood, contain compelling contemporary works. Many of them draw on local craft traditions but are informed by international art movements and trends.
