Even people who don’t like the beach love a St. Barths beach, and incredibly, this tiny Caribbean island has more than 20 to choose from. There’s no better way to enjoy them than from a beach club, where you can enjoy food and drinks while your feet are in soft, white sand a few yards from the crystalline sea. Numerous such clubs populate the island, but these three are either legendary or legends in the making.
As our driver told us, “Sunday is Nikki Beach.” This famed location, facing St. Jean Bay on the east side of iconic Eden Rock, puts the “club” in “beach club.” Sunday’s 3 p.m. brunch seating is the place to be if day drinking and dancing on tables is your thing. If not, do what we did and visit on a weekday. Our Tuesday lunch was much quieter, with an older crowd not intent on TikToking their experience. But it was still lively, and the view of the beach was as alluring as ever. The menu ranges from light bites, like the on-brand Sexy Salad, with shrimp, snow crab, avocado and tobiko, to sliders and sushi specials. For those who want to splurge, there’s Petrossian caviar and Nikki Beach’s famous sushi boats, which are the length of a dining-room table. Service was attentive and friendly, and though we saw no table dancing, we had fun people-watching and getting a taste of what all the fuss is about.
