After more than 15 years, we finally had a chance to return to the dramatically scenic island of St. Lucia. This paradisiacal Caribbean destination, long a haven for honeymooners, offers serene beaches, emerald rainforests and, most dramatically, the Pitons, two iconic volcanic spires rising above the southwest coast.

On our most recent trip, we stayed at two hillside retreats followed by a stint at a sybaritic beach resort. Jade Mountain and Ladera Resort both showcase spectacular vistas and a unique three-wall design concept from their jungle settings. Though Jade Mountain proved more spectacular than Ladera, we couldn’t resist including footage of both. An ideal trip to St. Lucia would combine time spent in the serenity of the hills with oceanfront relaxation at the magnificent Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, where the towering Pitons frame a magnificent secluded bay and white-sand beach.
