Keeping up with new luxury hotel openings around the world keeps us dreaming about where we’ll go next. Numerous notable properties are scheduled to debut before the end of the year, and the following six are some of the most attention grabbing.
We’re always excited whenever a new member of the Oetker Collection opens, because some of our favorite hotels are part of the group: Le Bristol Paris, Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa and Eden Rock – St Barths come immediately to mind. The Vineta marks Oetker’s first foray into the United States, and its comprehensive renovation of this almost century-old Palm Beach property will reduce the number of rooms from 57 to 41. We reviewed this hotel in 2021 in its incarnation as The Chesterfield, which had a “flamboyant and eccentric” décor that wasn’t exactly to our taste. Now, with interiors by Paris-based designer Tino Zervudachi and the clubby Leopard Lounge redone as an upscale restaurant, we have a feeling that The Vineta will suit us much better.
Oddly enough, one of Four Seasons’ most charming city hotels is in the capital of Colombia, Bogotá. The company now plans to unveil a 131-room property in colorful Cartagena, a romantic walled city on the Caribbean coast. The hotel and residences will occupy historic buildings in the Getsemaní neighborhood immediately south of the colonial center. Until recently, Getsemaní was gritty and rough around the edges, but with the opening of this luxury property, it would seem that this formerly unsavory quarter is now the place to be! We’re overdue for a return editorial visit to Colombia, and we look forward to relaxing beside the Four Seasons’ two rooftop pools.
