Clips From Magical Oaxaca

On a recent trip to Oaxaca, we explored Mexico’s newest hot spot. Our journey took us from Oaxaca City and the surrounding mountains to the rugged beaches of Puerto Escondido. In this video, you’ll get an in-depth look at the peaceful Hotel Escondido, including our Deluxe Room with a private plunge pool and a path to the beach. At Casa Silencio, an hour outside Oaxaca City, we discovered a stylish ecolodge and mezcal distillery.

Highlights from Oaxaca City include lunch at La Cocina de Humo, a mezcal tasting at Mezcaloteca and a tour of three of our favorite Oaxaca City museums: Rufino Tamayo Museum of Pre-Hispanic Art of Mexico, the Museum of Oaxacan Painters and the Textile Museum of Oaxaca.

Outside of town, we toured the Fundación Casa Wabi artist studio in Puerto Escondido, the otherworldly natural pools at Hierve el Agua, Zapotec ruins at Mitla and the sprawling Mercado de Abastos. Our trip concluded with a festive evening back in Oaxaca City, where wedding parades took over the streets. Read more about our trip to Oaxaca
