Travel Advisors’ Awards

Machu Picchu, Peru - Andrew Harper editor

Andrew Harper travel advisors take almost as many trips each year as the editors do. Some are personal — after all, they love traveling — but others are for business, specifically to do site inspections of hotels and attractions, so they can describe properties accurately, provide firsthand sightseeing advice and create in-depth customized itineraries for members. Just like Andrew Harper editors, they have opinions about their travels. We thought it was high time to ask them about their favorites of 2023. Here’s what they had to say.

Scandinavia

Norway fjords near Geiranger village - Piotr Krzeslak / Adobe Stock

Longtime members reached out to plan a family trip to Scandinavia, with stops in Norway and Denmark. They wanted a trip where they could all spend time together before the kids headed off to college. The itinerary I put together for them included a mix of historic city sights as well as beautiful scenic drives through the fjords, plus a glacier hike and traditional hotel accommodations that captured the culture, the people and a true sense of place. My clients took my advice to book a driver in the fjords, and when they returned, they agreed it was absolutely necessary: A driver allowed them to sit back and enjoy the amazing scenery without worrying about where they were headed. The glacier hike I recommended ended up being one of their favorite experiences. I was happy to create such a meaningful vacation for the whole family.
