Wildlife sightings in Kenya are plentiful year-round. In August and September, the Great Migration arrives in the south from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Northern Kenya offers arid landscapes of astounding grandeur, inhabited by the colorful Samburu tribal people. Fans of the movie “Born Free” may wish to visit Meru National Park to the east of 17,057-foot Mount Kenya. Joy and George Adamson lived nearby, and it is possible to visit the grave of Elsa the lioness. Kenya contains a spectacular stretch of the Great Rift Valley, and the lakes on its floor contain sensational birdlife, including vast flocks of flamingos.
