5 O’Clock Somewhere: Cocktails Around the World

Sundowners, Kateka - Andrew Harper editor

Wineries get a lot of attention in the Hideaway Report, as well they should. Tasting the terroir of a certain region is a particularly enjoyable way to get to know it. Less emphasis may be given to cocktails, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love them just as much. Within the last decade or so, bartenders around the world have upped their game, mixing carefully crafted drinks that can reflect a destination as much as a wine might. We take an inordinate number of pictures of the wonderfully creative concoctions we sample on our trips, and in honor of this festive season, our photo editor has assembled a selection of favorites from the past year’s tippling. Cheers!
