If our latest visit to New York City made one thing clear, it’s that any slump in the openings of new luxury hotels is over. We recently returned to review three of the latest to pop up, most notably the Aman New York in Midtown, one of the brand’s few urban properties. The Aman’s public spaces are off-limits to all except for guests and club members, but here we give you a look inside.
Like the Aman New York, Casa Cipriani, set in a renovated Beaux-Arts ferry terminal on Manhattan’s southern tip, functions as both a private members club and a hotel. Photos and videos of its lavish art deco-style public spaces are forbidden, but we can at least provide a peek at the refurbished exterior and our room, reminiscent of a vintage Venetian water taxi. The view was unforgettable.
And we tried out the new Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s New York, which looks like a repurposed warehouse, in keeping with its Tribeca neighborhood. But inside, it’s all 1930s Deauville chic. We quite enjoyed our stay; however, there’s one thing keeping us from recommending the hotel — you’ll have to read our full review to find out what.
