Though shopping did not top our list of priorities during our trip to Santa Barbara County, I can never resist a well-curated boutique. My traveling companion and I enjoyed popping into various stores selling gifts, home goods and antiques. We particularly loved the gift shop at The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, where my companion splurged on an Ayurvedic perfume while I browsed the selection of cowboy hats. The tiny town of Los Olivos also has some lovely boutiques, and we found shops worth checking out in Los Alamos and Montecito.
After a stellar lunch at Bell’s, we took a stroll around Los Alamos and happened upon Campover, a tiny home goods store hidden on a back street. Inside, we admired Navajo-inspired woven blankets, Japanese kitchenware from Shizu Hamono and handmade ceramics. Closed Monday to Wednesday.
