Six Senses Douro Valley, Portugal

Quinta Panorama Suite, Six Senses Duoro Valley - John Athimaritis

Almost universally, this 19th-century manor that “offers everything and more” is “exceptionally loved” by our members, who call it an an “absolute highlight.” We received rave reviews about the property’s “exceptional food,” “incredible service” and “oh-so-scenic” location on a vine-planted hillside overlooking the Douro. One member “would give this hotel a 100!”

Fogo Island Inn, Canada

Room 25, Fogo Island Inn - ALEX FRADKIN

Our readers consider the “natural beauty and drama” of “unspoiled” Fogo Island a “heavenly” setting for this inn, which is “a work of art.” Indeed, one enchanted member enthused that it “was truly beyond [their] ability to imagine and … express” how “magical” the hotel and island are. Another correspondent stated that the room was “so wonderful” they “never wanted to leave,” and the staff “could practically read [their] mind on how to make the stay perfect.”

Montage Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina

Pool, Montage Palmetto Bluff

For some, this “fine property” does a “good job handling its guests” and offers facilities “that rate a 10,” but just as many lament the “slow and inattentive” staff and services that are “not up to Montage standards.” According to one reader, this Montage “seems to be going through some growing pains.”

Amanyara, Turks & Caicos

Tranquility Villa, Amanyara - Steve Passmore

Members’ reactions to this resort, situated at the northwest tip of Providenciales, have been mixed. Some say that it is “peaceful” and perfect for those “who want to have a relaxing getaway,” and that it “truly sets the bar” for other Aman properties. But others have found it “too highly rated.” There were some concerns regarding the “disappointing food program” and “maintenance issues, like doors that didn’t slide right and dirty windows.”
