Researching articles about new luxury hotel openings always inspires a sense of keen anticipation. The latest properties that have us sketching out investigative editorial trips are below, including beachside hideaways, a remote mountain retreat and a true Australian phoenix, plus chic urban options. As leisure travel has roared back, each luxury hotel group seems to be trying to outdo the others in terms of exciting new debuts. It’s a competition we relish.

Silversands Beach House, Grenada

Silversands Beach House on Portici Beach, Grenada

The highly recommended 43-room Silversands property on Grenada’s popular Grand Anse Beach is quite impressive, but its new boutique sister hotel, Silversands Beach House, on secluded Portici Beach looks even more exclusive. All 28 accommodations face the Caribbean, either fronting the sand or perched on an adjacent rocky bluff. Public spaces include a striking infinity pool, though it surely won’t be as immense as the one at the original Silversands. Fortunately, guests of the Beach House have full run of both resorts. The opening date, listed as “Q4 2023” as of this writing, is not yet set, but we plan on making a beeline for this resort as soon as possible.

Rosewood Munich, Germany

Premier Room, Rosewood Munich - Davide Lovatti

Rosewood’s new hotel in central Vienna ranks as our highest-rated city property in 2023 thus far. So it was with some excitement we learned that, in autumn, the company will unveil 132 plush accommodations divided between a historic bank building and a palace in the heart of Munich. In a perfectly central location near the Residenz and Marienplatz, Rosewood Munich, the company’s first venture in Germany, also includes a restaurant serving “contemporary Alpine” cuisine, a cocktail bar with live music, a large spa and an indoor pool. It looks as if our other recommended hotels in town, the Mandarin Oriental and Rocco Forte’s The Charles Hotel, may finally have some competition.
