Baccarat Comes to Florence

The first Baccarat Hotel opened in Manhattan in 2015 on West 53rd Street, opposite the Museum of Modern Art. Its trademark displays of dazzling French crystal and bowls of crimson roses soon became fixtures on New York’s social scene. (The Baccarat company was founded by King Louis XV in 1764, and crystal is still made in the small town of the same name, 59 miles west of Strasbourg.) Plans are now underway to create a global hotel brand.

The next venture will be the Baccarat Hotel Florence, which is scheduled to open in 2024. The new property will be set on the estate of the 14th-century Villa Camerata, located 4 miles northeast of the Piazza del Duomo (Florence Cathedral), at the foot of the hills that lead up to the exquisite town of Fiesole. The hotel will offer contemporary interiors, two restaurants, plus a garden café, a lavish spa and both indoor and outdoor pools. Other Baccarat hotels are planned, including Baccarat Hotel Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, part of the new $50 billion Diriyah Gate cultural, lifestyle and luxury tourism development.
