Restaurants in and around Saint-Tropez have easy access to an array of exquisite ingredients, including top-quality produce from the South of France and perfectly fresh seafood from the Mediterranean. This is the place to relax over a long lunch or dinner, tossing plans aside in favor of a leisurely meal with a view, ideally accompanied by glasses of local dry rosé.
A toes-in-the-sand beach-club lunch is a quintessential Saint-Tropez experience, and we had superb meals at the seaside restaurants of the resorts where we stayed: Jardin Tropezina at Airelles Saint-Tropez, Château de La Messardière and La Pinède at Château de Valmer’s sister property. I also greatly enjoyed our lunch at Cabane Bambou, which is unaffiliated with a hotel. Sun-dappled beneath a bamboo lattice, we settled in with glasses of bright and toasty Deutz Champagne. Around us were families of well-dressed locals and yachters. On this sunny day, a refreshing starter of tender octopus and crunchy fennel carpaccio with yuzu pearls and a citrus dressing was just the thing. A zesty rosé paired well with my light but savory main course of rare sesame-crusted tuna in aji amarillo sauce with charred bok choy. The welcoming English-speaking waitstaff further added to the pleasure of this lunch by the sea.
