In idyllic Santa Barbara County, we visited three contrasting luxury hideaways. First was the excellent San Ysidro Ranch in the hills above Montecito, where plush cottages feature claw-foot tubs, indoor fireplaces and private hot tubs. At the Rosewood Miramar Beach, also in Montecito, we enjoyed the adults-only pool, direct access to the sand and fine Italian dining at Caruso’s. From the coast, we traveled inland to Los Olivos for a stay at The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, Auberge Resorts Collection, where we indulged in excellent local wine and ranch-inspired cuisine at the historic stagecoach stop.
