Belgravia’s Top Hotels, Restaurants and Shops

On my many returns to London, I have enjoyed staying in luxury hotels across the city. But I often gravitate back to Belgravia. In easy walking distance of Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace, the upscale neighborhood is rich with Old World charm. It’s a pleasure to stroll among the exclusive area’s immaculate residential squares and gardens, past 19th-century townhouses featuring wrought-iron detailing, white stucco façades, pillared porches and bow windows. My most recent incognito stay in the neighborhood did not result in a new hotel recommendation, but I did discover new high-end restaurants, bars and boutiques to add to our list of suggestions. (In any case, Belgravia hosts several fine luxury properties that have been part of the Harper Collection for years.) Below is a guide to a few favorites in this favorite neighborhood of mine.

HOTELS

Royal Suite living room, The Goring

The Goring

Run by the same family for four generations, this classic 69-room hotel has long been favored by British royalty. It’s Michelin-starred restaurant, which I love, reopened in May after a striking redesign by Russel Sage Studio. I’m also a fan of The Goring’s lively cocktail bar, glorious private garden and, most important, its exemplary personal service. Our Travel Office can arrange exclusive guided tours of the garden, during which our members can hear fascinating stories about The Goring, its family and notable past guests. An Andrew Harper member recently shared with us that their “stay actually exceeded expectations in almost every way.”
