A splashy new opening on the Big Island of Hawaii encouraged us to compare and contrast luxury beach hotels along the Kohala Coast. In this video, we’ll take you on a tour of Rosewood’s Kona Village eco-resort, which opened to much fanfare in July 2023. This fabulous property gives others nearby a real run for their money! Not far is the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which boasts one of the finest natural white-sand beaches on the island. We’ll admire the magnificent views over the sea and the hotel’s attractive palm-fringed pool from our room’s two lanais. From here, we’ll head over to the Fairmont Orchid, an oasislike property with a man-made lagoon teeming with green sea turtles. Our luxurious Oceanfront Suite didn’t disappoint, with its contemporary Hawaiian accents and two private patios tucked behind tropical foliage. Heading back toward Kona Village, we overnighted at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. This family-friendly property offers seemingly endless amenities, including a magnificent Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course that culminates in a dramatic finish overlooking the ocean.
