ART + LEISURE

La dolce vita is as sweet as ever in Italy. Extravagant new and refurbished hotels in Florence lured us back to the heart of the Renaissance. When not cosseted in our palatial digs, we discovered charming wine bistros and high-end artisan workshops. Umbria has long been overshadowed by neighboring Tuscany in terms of luxury hideaways, but the idyllic region is brightening up fast. Properties in both Orvieto and the countryside earned high marks. We also visited one of the most historic cities in the United States, Santa Fe, where we stayed anonymously at two major resorts — only one of which made the cut. And look for previews of the most exciting cruise ships debuting in 2026, plus a roundup of enviable new villas.
