From JUNGLE to GARDEN
In the last 20 years, few countries have completed as successful a turnaround as Colombia. Once-dangerous Medellín now draws ever-increasing numbers of sophisticated travelers (including a certain A-list Hollywood star we sat near at dinner one night). We found new hotels to recommend both there and in always-magical Cartagena. In between, we had the pleasure of reviewing a recently launched riverboat’s fascinating Magdalena River journey. Across the Atlantic, we skipped Paris in favor of three stately hotels in the surrounding countryside followed by a new French Riviera island resort.
