Andrew Harper editor video highlights from this issue

FOR THE JOY OF IT

Travel can be edifying, educational and broadening, but sometimes it’s simply just a pleasure. In Brazil, fun is always part of the experience, as a swing up the coast recently reminded us. We explored the low-key chic beach village of Trancoso, the richly historic (party) town of Salvador and the always-intoxicating Rio de Janeiro. Infamously rainy Seattle might seem like the opposite of Rio, but we had plenty of fun there, too (summer and early autumn are actually quite sunny). You’ll also find a selection of our favorite overnight luxury train journeys inside. And at the end of the issue, we regretfully report that our original editor in chief has passed away. We share fond memories of our innovative founder.
