Veranda dining, Villa Mabrouka, Tangier

MOORISH MYSTIQUE

Morocco has held a place on my list of favorite countries ever since I first visited. I loved all of it — except Casablanca and Tangier (too boring and too scruffy, respectively). What a difference a couple of decades make. Tangier has reclaimed its luster and is once again drawing a fashionable international crowd, and Casablanca has opened a destination hotel that is reason alone to visit. We discovered an atmospheric Madrid hideaway on our way home, and for something completely different, we reviewed a beloved lodge in Jackson, Wyoming, rebuilt after a fire and better than ever.
