REMOTE RESPITES

Certain places feel reliably removed from the troubles of the world, and Scandinavia and the Rocky Mountains are two of them. First, we returned to Sweden, where high-design resorts in Lapland made a striking contrast with the old forests and traditional reindeer farms. The archipelagic capital of Stockholm and the idyllic island of Gotland also yielded new hotel recommendations. In Colorado, we made an itinerary of three of its great ski towns, discovering appealing properties in Telluride, Aspen and Vail. And not least, we enjoyed a glamorous Mediterranean cruise aboard an extraordinary new yacht. Finally, look for a selection of feedback about the services of our travel advisors. Next month: the Editors’ Choice Awards issue.
